The cow family that traces
to HS Duncans Heidi Honey is another DeMent family favorite.
She epitomizes the DeMent
philosophy of breeding and developing productive, long-lived cows with
excellent type conformation. "Honey" is appraised Excellent-90% and made
11 lactations in all. She bred back easily every time, with calving intervals
about one year apart.
"Honey" was purchased from
fellow Illinois Jersey breeders Harley and Mary Etta Schlabach, Arthur,
as a two-year-old from the Illinois Invitational Sale in 1990. She was
the second-high seller of the day and proved to be an excellent
investment.
